Inspired by Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities, this piece contrasts the need for peace in everyday life with the pursuit of power by global leaders.
Two tables define the work: a brown kitchen table, symbolizing the heart of everyday family life, and a green baize table, representing the impersonal logic of military strategy and the
tenuous structure of global order.
The tables mirror the duality within us all—the capacity to be both peacekeeper and destroyer. As the piece unfolds, these realities blur: the same person who protects peace at one table may hold the power to dismantle it at another.
